• Name:

LangeTwins 2024 Chenin Blanc - Merrill Vineyard

  • Appellation:

    Clarksburg AVA

  • Tasting Notes:

The 2024 vintage presents precise aromatics of yellow apple skin, ruby grapefruit zest, and white florals, underpinned by a faint note of baking spice. As the wine evolves in the glass, secondary aromas of crushed stone and fennel pollen emerge, adding complexity to the nose. This wine delivers a refreshing mouthfeel and has a lovely balanced acidity that is perfect for any occasion.

  • Growing Conditions:

The 2024 growing season was marked by significant climatic events that influenced vine development and fruit quality. A wet winter and early spring provided ample soil moisture, delaying bud break slightly but ensuring healthy canopy growth. Moderate temperatures in April and May allowed for an even and successful fruit set with minimal shatter and occasional spring rains helped sustain vine vigor without excessive disease pressure. An extraordinary heat wave commenced in June, with temperatures soaring in July. This intense heat temporarily stalled vine growth; however, grape skins and acidity levels remained intact, leading to a higher quality harvested compared to previous years. The heat wave also accelerated sugar accumulation in grapes, resulting in an earlier start to crush. White grape yields were smaller while red varietals produced average yields.
