• Name:

LangeTwins 2024 Chardonnay - Merrill Vineyard

  • Tasting Notes:

Aged for 12 months in American and French oak, our Merrill VIneyard Chardonnay offers a smooth, layered texture balanced by vibrant acidity. Aromas of orchard fruit mingle with soft tropical notes of pineapple and peach. On the palate, hints of pear emerge alongside subtle caramel and vanilla, adding richness and depth without overwhelming the fresh fruit character. Silky tannins and bright acidity carry the wine through a long, elegant finish.

  • Growing Conditions:

The 2024 growing season was marked by significant climatic events that influenced vine development and fruit quality. A wet winter and early spring provided ample soil moisture, delaying bud break slightly but ensuring healthy canopy growth. Moderate temperatures in April and May allowed for an even and successful fruit set with minimal shatter and occasional spring rains helped sustain vine vigor without excessive disease pressure. An extraordinary heat wave commenced in June, with temperatures soaring in July. This intense heat temporarily stalled vine growth; however, grape skins and acidity levels remained intact, leading to a higher quality harvested compared to previous years. The heat wave also accelerated sugar accumulation in grapes, resulting in an earlier start to crush. White grape yields were smaller while red varietals produced average yields.
